Am I depressed?

self helpConsidering the kind of life that we have, fast, sedentary, mundane and stress. All the qualities either affect the mind or impact the victim physically. It is not a very good experience for those who slide into depression. It is an enormous illness that engulfs the victim thoroughly. It becomes extremely difficult for the victim to get out of the problem unless he or she prepares to come out of it through sheer determination.

The experience that you will have while in depression is plenty. So when you ask yourself “Am I depressed” ensure that you know the symptoms to be able to negate the question or give the right answer to it. Detecting depression at an early stage is the best thing to do. The various symptoms of the depressive disorder are as follows:

  • Feeling of worthlessness
  • Feeling helpless
  • Feeling exhausted
  • Hopelessness
  • Negative thoughts
  • Feeling grouchy all the time
  • Anger and incapacity to achieve what you have been all this while.

The best way to self help in depression is by knowing how what your problem is. Unless you go to the root of the problem you would not be able to come out of the issue that you are facing. As soon as you start depression treatment the various effects take place. Your step by step approach towards life should be the following:

  1. Set your goals that are realistic and would also put an amount of responsibility on you
  2. Mingle with like-minded people rather than staying within the closet
  3. Set your priorities and accomplish whatever you set yourself to do
  4. Participate in the various activities that makes you feel good
  5. Go for a walk or jog or simply work out on the terrace while breathing in some fresh air
  6. Control your mood. If you seemingly get angry count from 100 to 1. It helps your mind to unwind immediately
  7. Stop taking decisions at the peak of any emotion. Calm down, think ten times and then decide or commit yourself
  8. Start thinking positive. The best way to fight depression is to replace your negative thoughts with the positive ones.
  9. Ask your family to cooperate and tell them that you are working hard and do not want them to the victim of any repercussions. This would help them to help you

Changing your own life for the better is an impressive job to do. Understand yourself. Fight yourself. Only once you can combat your own negatives with the strength of mind that you can easily come out of the depression that you were pushing yourself into. Remember, it is you who is responsible for any downfall whatsoever. There might be various bad incidents but there is no reason why you should hold yourself responsible and get inside the shell. God has given you one life and you must spend it in the best way possible.
